Foldscoper of the Month

Amadou Guissé

Congratulations to our April Foldscoper of the Month, Amadou Guissé! 🎉  Throughout April, Amadou published diverse and dynamic posts on Microcosmos. Amadou is a doctoral student with a specialization in freshwater fish biology, at Gaston Berger University in Saint Louis, Senegal. Here, Amadou was exposed to research and manipulation with microscopes. At the beginning of April, a Frenchwoman by the name of Mélanie Hannebelle gave Amadou a Foldscope and taught him how to use it. He was amazed at how clear the pictures were and from then on his Foldscoping adventures began.

"Foldscope is for me a magic third eye for any curious person wishing to familiarize themselves with nature in general and the microscopic world in particular."  ~ Amadou Guissé

To be considered for this distinguished title, you must be a part of the Microcosmos Community and be the #1 active user— with the highest quality and quantity of posts— during the month of May. Each Foldscope comes with a unique ID if you have not already, you can use it to register to our online community platform - Microcosmos.

Calling all Foldscope Explorers

Foldscope has recently partnered with the Soil Science Lab team to provide aid on their Citizen Science Project. This project is a longitudinal study that will analyze the impact of climate change by the collection of soil, location, and nematode data from around the world. All individuals participating in this project will have access to the data to innovate new technologies to improve soil quality, slow climate change, and even spotlight purposeful injustices to local officials to implement and make positive change.
