Congratulations to our February Foldscoper of the Month, Carla Delgado!

Throughout February, she published diverse and dynamic posts on Microcosmos - our official community platform. Carla is a Peruvian biologist with a master's in Education and a mention in e-learning. She is the founder and CEO of Chikiciencia, with more than 10 years of experience in the development and execution of science workshops for kids between ages 3 to 12 years old.

Previously, she wasn't always fond of using microscopes - until the Foldscope came along. After becoming a mother, she was looking for a fun way to introduce her daughter to the microcosmos. After stumbling upon the Foldscope her perception of this amazing tool changed and has inspired her to organize microbiology workshops for kids 6 to 12 years old.

Training Completion for CFISD

On Monday 3/7, Foldscope traveled to Texas to complete our basic training package for a group of 12 Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) curriculum specialists. 

COVID has presented many learning challenges for teachers and students. Now that they have returned to in-person learning they have found a need for Foldscopes in the classroom.

Paola Moreno-Roman, our Director of Strategic Partnerships, led the specialists in assembling their Foldscope, preparing slides, and how to perfectly pan and focus when looking at a sample. The teachers were truly amazed by the ability to view beautiful microscope images but were really blown away when they prepped their water samples and saw Euglena moving.
